Lk 10:20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

Jesus said that we should rejoice that our names are written in heaven. It means that there are abundant blessings to rejoice when our names are recorded in heaven. Then how can our names be written in heaven and what blessings are given to us? Let’s confirm these one by one through the Bible.

Ro 6:1-4 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

The Bible tells us that when we get baptism, we can live a new life. Just as our names are written in a birth register when we are born, our names are written in heaven when we are born spiritually by baptism. Then what blessings do we receive when our names are recorded in heaven by getting baptism?

Da 12:1 At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.

Here, only God’s people will be delivered on the last day. And they are those whose names are written in the book of life. In other words, only those whose names are recorded in heaven will be saved by God on the last day. That’s why it’s very important matter for our names to be recorded in heaven. We must be glad our names are recorded in heaven! Let’s give all thanks and honor to our God for these abundant blessings.
