The painting called ‘The Last Supper’ is actually the Feast of Passover. The world famous painter Leonardo da Vinci depicted the scene of Jesus’ last supper with His disciples before He was crucified on the cross. However the Bible teaches us that the scene of Jesus’ last supper is the Passover. What did Jesus say at the last supper? And why is so important what Jesus said to His disciples at the last supper? What is the ultimate purpose that Jesus left His will to His disciples?

Lk 22:15 And He[Jesus] said to the, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.”

Here, the word, ‘before I suffer’ refers to His death on the cross. He was destined to be crucified the day after the Passover. The reason why Jesus wanted to eat and drink the Passover bread and Passover wine is to give His disciples the blessing of eternal life. The bread of the Passover means Jesus’ flesh and the Passover wine represent Jesus’ blood. Only through the Passover, we can eat the Jesus’ flesh and drink the Jesus’ blood, and it will lead us to the kingdom of heaven.
