Some people wanna see miraculous signs and wonders. And sometimes miraculous signs and wonders are considered a way to recognize Christ. However, the Bible testifies that false Christs perform miraculous signs and wonders to deceive God’s people.

Mt 24:24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Even though false Christs and false prophets perform great signs and miracles to deceive people of God, do you think that God would save His people with it? The Bible tells us that God saves us by the truth of life, not sings and wonders.

Mi 4:1-2 In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. Many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Here, the Bible prophesies that God will teach us His ways in Zion in the last days. So according to the prophecies of the Bible, we must go to Zion to learn the way of salvation from God and to get salvation. If we look for miraculous signs and wonders, we can never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Because God is omniscience and omnipotence, He can perfom surprising signs and miracles. About 2,000 years ago, Jesus already showed miracles many times. However, did people who saw that miracles receive Jesus as the Savior and get salvation? Though they saw many miracles, they left Jesus when He explained the truth of life. Signs and wonders can never be evidence that recognize and receive Christ.

Therefore we must look for the truth of eternal life, not great signs and miracles.

Jn 6:68-69 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”
