Following the God’s words and commands, we must keep the Sabbath day according to the Bible. When we preach the Sabbath day, some say that should we keep the Old Testament law. Keeping the Sabbath is not to keep the Sabbath of the Old Testament, but the Sabbath of the New Covenant as Jesus Christ showed the examples. The Sabbath day of the Old Testament is as follows:

Nu 28:9~10 On the Sabbath day, make an offering of two lambs a year old without defect, together with its drink offering and a grain offering. This is the burnt offering for every Sabbath.

In the Old Testament times, God’s people offered the lambs a year old without defect, worshiping God. However When the New Testament times come, Christ Jesus showed a different way to keep the Sabbath day which is the reality there is no more need to sacrifice animals as the burnt offering on the Sabbath day.

Jn 4:21~22 Jesus declared, “The time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. The true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.

As Jesus Christ showed us the good examples, keeping the Sabbath by reading the Scriptures in spirit and truth, we must follow that way. The method of worshiping God Elohim on the Sabbath day has been completely changed from offering the lambs with the blood of sacrifice to worshiping in spirit and truth. Thus the way we keep the Sabbath day is not to keep the Sabbath of the Old Testament, but the Sabbath of the New Covenant.
