In order for God to give eternal life with the Passover bread and wine, which represent His flesh and blood, He must sacrifice Himself.
Why was God willing to give us eternal life at the cost of suffering and sacrifice?
The answer to this can be obtained by knowing what heaven is like.
Revelation 21:4
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away"
Heaven is a place where there will be no more death. Therefore, beings who is mortal can never enter heaven.
This is why Jesus so wanted to give eternal life to mankind.
He commanded us to keep the Passover in order to make the human beings, which is bound to die, into eternal beings and take them to heaven.
The Passover of the new covenant contains God's great love to lead mankind to heaven.
Believers who want to live a true life of faith with the goal of saving souls must keep the Passover of the new covenant.

Some people think that the Passover has nothing to do with eternal salvation. So, they say that there's no need to keep the Passover for the kingdom of heaven.
